Wind Turbine Lights

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Sunset Solar have installed wind turbine powered lighting units in the Western Isles. They were designed to provide lighting on a fishermans’ jetty, where until now they have not had this facility. The turbines have had a considerable test period during which time they have been subjected to storm force winds. The turbine generated electricity  is stored in a battery bank, which also houses the charge control and battery management devices. The lamps turn on at dusk and remain on until dawn throughout the year thereby improving the safety for the fishermen who continually  use the jetty to unload their catches.
